what they say ...

Today I attended my first meeting, as a 'visitor', to decide whether I'd like to join.  Having ended the meeting with three prospective new clients, and a lot of very excited interest.  I'm in!  Wrap it, I'll take it!

I just thought that you might like to know that I have just totalled up the amount of revenue TipTop generated through Athena referrals from June 2005 to end of June 2006 (my 1st year) and it came to: £24,740.12p.  Needless to say, I will be renewing my membership this year!

It was lovely to meet you today and I really did enjoy the meeting. Having been really apprehensive about the whole networking idea it was great to meet so many nice ladies in such a relaxed environment and to see networking happening naturally without any pressure.

I felt privileged to have been part of the workshop and will certainly digest and put into practice all that you have taught us.

Enjoyed being in an atmosphere that is both warm and ‘buzzing’ whilst increasing my knowledge and experiences of networking.

What I enjoyed about today's workshop was that I am learning more about the 'ease and grace' of networking ... it's finally becoming less daunting.  Thank you.

Jo Lucas - Regional Director, West Anglia

Jo Lucas is Regional Director of the Athena Network for Cambridge. Her career has included training and development both with organisations and individuals and has been shaped by her networks and serendipitous contacts.

She has worked in the social care field for the last 30 years, with small organisations and businesses both in the UK and internationally. For 6 years she was Chief Executive of a small charity with a turnover of £0.5 million.

Jo is interested in the development of social firms that offer people with disabilities real employment in successful businesses.

Jo went freelance in 2004 and quickly realised that her business was growing solely through informal networking. Contracts have included mentoring, staff training and development, implementing organisational change, project design and management and evaluation and monitoring.

Jo discovered the joys of networking and then found The Athena Network which has helped her to develop these skills. She knows that networking amongst women is critical to business growth as it offers a great place to develop skills and make relationships with others in business locally. The Athena Network offers a great opportunity to meet up with like minded people, to share ideas and experiences, learn new skills and have some fun.
